Objective: to analyze the diagnostic methods used to identify cutaneous Leishmaniasis, review them, and determine how frequently they are used. Methodology: literature review, based on articles from the PubMed, Scielo, and Lilacs databases, collected from 2019 to 2024. Results: this study reviewed 13 articles, highlighting the specificity of each method and its employability. Referring to the methods usually used and future alternatives for more accurate methods for diagnosing cutaneous Leishmaniasis through molecular biology and immunoassays. Conclusion: in accordance with the results of the articles analyzed, it is observed that each diagnostic method used varies in use depending on the parasitic form present in the sample, in addition to the clinical aspects of the patient and the time taken to carry out the exams.
