Abstract

Objective: this study presents the molecular detection of B19V in the cardiac tissue of a pediatric patient with clinical suspicion of dengue. Methods: viral DNA was extracted from heart tissue, followed by PCR reaction and nucleotide sequencing. Results: B19V DNA was detected in the sample (AM199801), which tested negative for dengue. Nucleotide sequence analysis indicated B19V genotype 1. Conclusion: this finding highlights the underreporting of B19V in dengue-endemic areas, emphasizing the importance of laboratory investigation in association with clinical and epidemiological data to elucidate the causes of morbidity and mortality in the region.
