Objective: to assess the quality of life of nursing professionals working in a philanthropic hospital in a northern city in Minas Gerais. Method: this is a descriptive, qualitative study conducted with 12 nursing professionals aged between 24 and 50 years. Data were collected between August and September 2024 through a semi-structured interview and were analyzed using Thematic Analysis. Results: they indicated that the workday promotes physical exhaustion, stress, and headaches, in addition to taking up a large amount of time, which often makes it difficult or impossible to perform other activities of daily living and get adequate rest, as well as adopt a healthier lifestyle. The night shift schedule favored the emergence of insomnia, which affects the quality of sleep and the well-being of the professional. As strategies to deal with these challenges, professionals highlighted planning their personal lives, offering moments of leisure and relaxation, and organizing work processes, such as changing shifts and creating work schedules so everyone takes time off on special dates. Conclusion: implementing institutional support strategies, restructuring work schedules, and implementing initiatives to enhance professional recognition are essential to ensuring quality of life for professionals and quality care for patients.
