Primary mesenteric dedifferentiated liposarcoma

Abstract

Dedifferentiated liposarcoma is a rare mesenchymal neoplasm with aggressive behavior and high local recurrence. Primary mesenteric occurrence is uncommon and may present with nonspecific symptoms. We report a case of a 54-year-old man with intermittent fever, night sweats, and gastrointestinal symptoms for two months. CT showed a left mesenteric mass, which was completely resected. Histopathology revealed a high-grade sarcoma with a Ki-67 index of 35%, and MDM2 immunohistochemistry supported the diagnosis of dedifferentiated liposarcoma. Recognition of this entity and complete surgical resection are central to management.
