Abstract

Objective: this study aimed to develop and validate a distance learning, self-instructional, and asynchronous course on safe supplementation for amateur
sports practice, intended for students and health professionals. Methods: this is a methodological study based on the instructional design model proposed
by Morrison, Ross, and Kemp. Content validation was carried out by specialists and health professionals who work with amateur athletes, while semantic validation involved students and health professionals. The validation meetings were conducted synchronously and remotely, using a consensus approach that required a minimum agreement of 80% through specific instruments for content and semantic evaluation, based on the reading and analysis of
the course content plan. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of an education institution (approval number 6,845,032), and all participants signed the Informed Consent Form. Results: the content and semantic aspects of both the teaching plan and the distance learning course were validated. The course has a total workload of 20 hours and is organized into the following modules: Rational Use of Supplements in Amateur Sports Practice; Nutritional and Dietary Supplements: Scientific and Clinical Foundations; Supplement Prescription; and Supplement Safety. The course includes formative assessments at the end of each module and a summative assessment for certificate issuance. Conclusion: the course aims to promote safe supplementation through continuing education, stimulate scientific thinking, and strengthen interprofessional care, fostering integration among different health disciplines in the promotion of well-being and quality of life.
