Objective: to evaluate the involvement of single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) rs670 in particle size and antioxidant action of HDL. Methods: socioeconomic, sociodemographic, and clinical data were collected. In addition, anthropometric data, glycemic and lipid profiles, apolipoprotein A-I and B
levels, non-esterified fatty acid levels, omega-3 index, SNP rs670 genotyping, HDL particle subfractions, and antioxidant function were determined. Results: 78 individuals, with a prevalence of women (46.59%), mean age of 40 (±14) years, presence of cardiovascular risk factors (n = 72; 92.3%), among others. According to SNP rs670, no difference was observed between sociodemographic, glycolipid, anthropometric parameters, and HDL antioxidant capacity.
However, the CC genotype showed correlations between HDL cholesterol and blood glucose (rho=-0.304), triglycerides (rho=-0.324), body mass index (rho=-0.439), and waist circumference (rho=-0.516). The CT and TT genotypes showed correlations between the HDL 1-2/9-10 ratio and blood glucose (rho=-0.576) and the Apo B/Apo A-I ratio (rho=-0.629). In addition, the presence of the T allele can be predicted by the HDL 1-2/9-10 ratio. Conclusions: it is concluded that the polymorphic T allele was associated with higher HDL ratios compared to lower ones, possibly affecting its functionality.
