MATURITY IN PROJECT MANAGEMENT: A CASE STUDY AT A BRAZILIAN FEDERAL UNIVERSITY WITH APPLICATION OF THE PRADO-MMGP MODEL

Abstract

Project Management (PM) is an indispensable element for the success of organizations today. The objective of this study is to evaluate the level of PM maturity in a research and innovation institute of a Brazilian federal university using the Project Management Maturity Model (Prado-MMGP). The model proposes 40 questions that allow for verifying the performance of a sector at different levels and dimensions of maturity. The research is carried out through a case study of a quantitative nature with the application of a questionnaire to the five (5) managers of the institute, of which two (2) were respondents. The Final Assessment of Maturity (AFM) scores obtained by the two segments of the analyzed institute reveal regular and good maturity, being above the average verified among Brazilian public organizations, in general, and organizations linked to education. The results in terms of adherence to the maturity levels and dimensions were also considered satisfactory.
