Abstract

The objective of the article was to understand how managers dealt with the team working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic. Interviews were carried out with managers of project-oriented companies to identify their management practices in this context. The content analysis method was used to compare the interviewees' reports and identify the managers' actions in terms of information, people, and action, following the model by Mintzberg (2010). The results indicated that managers maintained regular contact with the teams in terms of information, encouraged employees, reinforced the collaborative environment in terms of people, and mainly carried out project management in terms of action when dealing with the uncertainties arising from the pandemic. The COVID-19 pandemic brought several challenges for companies and understanding the management practices used as a way of acting in complex situations.
