Abstract

This study consists of a systematic review of the literature. It aims to identify a portrait of Brazilian public policies for the support and protection of older people in light of the provision of constitutional rights and guarantees. The PICOC (population, intervention, comparison, outcome, context) strategy was used, generating a search string applied to the Scopus database, and, in direct consultation with Capes and Google Scholar, 22 scientific articles were selected. In a subsidiary way, 36 bibliographic and documentary sources were added to consult normative acts and provisions of national and international legislation, totaling 58 documents. The results made it possible to identify that the topic of public policy is transversal to the object of study, recognizing the need to establish performance indicators to monitor government actions and programs to achieve the expected results.
