Abstract

The transition promoted by CAPES for the 2025–2028 evaluation cycle represents a decisive milestone in how Brazilian scientific production will be understood, assessed, and positioned within the academic ecosystem. By shifting the focus from the journal to the individual article, a new paradigm is established that requires emerging journals, such as the Journal of Management in Analysis and Technologies (ReGeA), not only technical adaptation but also strategic repositioning. This change has an immediate impact: by moving away from the traditional Qualis system as the central reference, it strengthens the protagonism of the intrinsic quality of each article as a fundamental criterion for evaluation, impact, and knowledge circulation.

For journals that do not yet enjoy high citation rates or strong international indexing, the new model imposes significant challenges. Competition for high-quality manuscripts tends to intensify, making editorial rigor, methodological robustness, and clarity of scope indispensable. These elements are essential to break the cycle of editorial stagnation—characterized by low citability, reduced submission of qualified manuscripts, the inflow of weak papers, and consequently low impact (CAPES, 2025).

Scientific integrity should be understood as a public good grounded in collective responsibility, going beyond the dimension of individual researcher conduct. As argued by Tsui and McKiernan (2022) and Bouter (2024), integrity materializes through the construction of editorial and institutional environments capable of ensuring, in an articulated manner, scientific freedom with responsibility, transparency in evaluation and publication processes, openness to epistemological diversity, and a firm commitment to the public interest. It is important to recognize that these arguments are directly aligned with the guidelines of the CAPES 2025–2028 evaluation system, insofar as they acknowledge that the credibility of scientific knowledge depends on the institutional conditions that support its production and dissemination.

It is within this horizon of transformations that ReGeA has advanced. In 2025, in view of the growing prominence of technological areas in social, productive, and organizational development, the Editorial Policy Committee reaffirmed its commitment to excellence and integrity in scientific communication by expanding the journal’s scope to include research from the sciences and technologies. The journal began to welcome studies on innovation, information systems, applied engineering, digital technologies, intelligent solutions, and technological sustainability, among other emerging themes directly related to contemporary challenges. This evolution marked the transition from a journal focused exclusively on management to an integrated model encompassing contributions from both management and technologies, culminating in the adoption of the name Journal of Management in Analysis and Technologies (ReGeA).

In 2026, the journal will adopt a continuous flow model for the submission and publication of articles, essays, and teaching cases and will continue to preserve open access and the complete exemption of submission, processing, and publication fees. This policy reaffirms ReGeA’s commitment to the democratization of scientific knowledge and to the removal of barriers that limit access to and dissemination of academic production, aligning with the conception that science should serve the public interest. Moreover, we wish our readers an excellent reading and research experience.
