Assessment of project management maturity in the creative economy

This paper investigates the level of project management maturity in creative economy institutions in the micro-region of São João del-Rei, Minas Gerais, aiming to identify the level of adherence to the Project Management Maturity Model (PMMM) proposed by Prado. The research, of a descriptive and quantitative nature, applied the PMMM questionnaire, consisting of 40 questions, to nine managers of creative economy institutions. The analysis of the collected data revealed an average maturity level of 2.37, classifying the institutions at level 2 ("Known") of the model. Weak adherence to maturity levels and regular adherence to PMMM dimensions were observed. Institutions with longer operating time (over 10 years) and revenue between R$ 360,000 and R$ 48 million showed higher maturity, in contrast to the less mature institutions, which showed a lack of professionals dedicated to project management and deficiencies in methodologies and organizational structure. The results indicate the need for investments in project management training and organizational structuring to strengthen project management and boost the development of creative economy institutions in the region.
